On 2 June 2012 the Queen will become only the second monarch to reach 60 years on the throne. Outwood is preparing celebrations for this momentous event with a series of activities over the long bank holiday weekend. Watch this space for more details or contact Rosie Yeldham via

Saturday 2 June; 1950s style Tea Party
Come to the Lloyd Hall and join in with our tea party of traditional 1950s fayre and view the display of memorabilia gathered from the last six decades. Newspapers and magazines from the 1950s, images of Outwood life all presented against a soundtrack from the early years of the Queen's rule.
Sunday 3 June; The Red, White and Blue Parade
Dress up, or dress down, but whatever your style make it red, white and blue. We will assemble at 'The Castle' and parade along Millers Lane towards Wells Court where we will be hosting a 'Bring Your Own Jubilee Lunch' followed by an afternoon of traditional fun and games.
Monday 4 June; Cricket Festival and Beacon Lighting
The centre of activities for the day will be the Cricket Club, where they will host a village competition consisting of quick fire games, all day BBQ, bar and activities. The day will be rounded off with the broadcast of the Queen's Concert and procession to light the village beacon
